“Iam.that.iam” new artwork,
A beautiful physical painting of 16 x 20 inches on canvas, but also much more. It is a multi-level piece that incorporates several layers of technology. Mixed media of Acrylic paint and collage of QR codes on canvas, has multiple interactive layers that add to the artwork, aesthetically and conceptually. These layers all form the new technology stack which combined are the Art.
For years, I’ve been experimenting with different technologies to expand expression and communication in my artwork. I’ve used, QR codes, Machine learning, and I’ve even mounted hardware into canvas.
This painting takes many of the lessons from the past projects to the next level. The augmented reality as well as the nine websites linked and accessed through the painting are all controlled by the artist, and are being developed so that other artworks connect to them and link many different paintings on a digital level, forming a grander more expansive story.
Process of making the painting
Art is form of communication. New technologies and new ways of combining media allows artist to create not only innovative works, but entirely new genres to express thoughts and emotions. All the “rules” are being re-written. Good times
